Dark Waters is the title of my campaign that I'm planning for Neverwinter Nights 2.

I'm starting a couple years before the game comes out in order to plot, map, and write as much as possible. I took the same approach with Shadowlords and it served me well, allowing me to complete the entire campaign in just a few months. It's unlikely I'll be able to maintain the same speed with Dark Waters, as my plans are much more ambitious. Still, it should hopefully let me finish the campaign before the stars grow dim and the universe becomes a lifeless void.

For those of you wanting the campaign to be a complete surprise, it's best if you run fleeing from this site and not come back for a couple years. There's likely to be assorted spoilers in the news items, though I try to keep the most juicy secrets saved for the game itself.

When trying to describe the genre of the campaign in two words, I'd be forced to spit out "psionic pirates". It's a misleading cliché, however. I'm trying to combine swashbuckling and high adventure with a more somber exploration of the human mind. The story is also set against the backdrop of a myriad of island nations, only now recovering from a devastating war that changed the face of the world. It is into this world that three friends grow into adulthood and learn about joy, loss, and secrets that have long lain hidden.

"The war changed everything. Some say it was a war waged in Heaven between the angels and demons of old. I say they were men. Men with great Gifts to be sure, able to hear the whispered thoughts of others, see behind closed doors, or move objects by force of their will alone."
